Farnham Writing Center

What is the Writers' Center?

The FWC is a place to get skilled feedback on your writing. Their trained peer writing assistants ask and answer questions about the content, style, and technique of your work, engaging you in dialogue and encouraging you to take an active role.

They welcome brainstorming, outlines, rough drafts, grammar questions, final edits, and everything in between. Your assignment, subject area, and priorities will shape the session, but their goal remains constant: to engage you in a helpful conversation about your writing.

How foes the FWC work?

What happens in a tutoring session varies, but some aspects are consistent. You and your peer writing assistant will discuss expectations for your assignment, establish goals for your session, and read your paper aloud if you have a draft. You will use a collaborative process that benefits writers of all levels by clarifying ideas, strengthening arguments, and polishing prose.
